As you may have noticed in recent weeks, our Instagram @preludeslovakia is brimming with inspiring photos and artistic images with the theme of spring flowers, masks, monochromatic outfits, or classic costumes from our regions. All these images are part of the moodboard for Prelude’s latest collection, which will be called “7beauty”.

The collection draws inspiration from Věra Chytilová’s avant-garde Czech film Daisies and the main idea is drawn from the shot where the two central female characters say the phrase: “When everything is spoiled, we will be spoiled too.”

The parallel to this idea is an object from the past – a costume that is subject to decay, disappearing until it gradually undergoes deconstruction and is reborn in a new form. In the film, the characters experiment and seek entertainment, provocation and try to be corrupted in different ways. In the same way, the individual elements of the collection undergo deconstruction, transformation and return in a new form that brings awareness. Elements of the collection such as masks, protective layers or materials therefore represent an imaginary barrier against the “corrupted” world and bring protection to their wearer so that they do not succumb to corruption again.

Prelude’s latest collection will bring a new perspective on the use of folk motifs and embroidery. As part of the collection, we are expecting to see several new types of products, including jewellery and masks.
